Rob and his team arrived on time and did a great job, explaining exactly what the job entailed to prune branches off a huge gum tree. The area around the tree was surrounded by garden and garden pots. The team were very careful to ensure no damage occurred to plants and pots. The job was completed quickly and professionally with the cleanup excellent. All the team members worked very well together and coordinated all the various tasks efficiently. They made the time to do an extra job for my daughter next door and did a great cleanup at the finish. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them .Thanks Fellas.

Such a lovely family business. Genuinely nice people who gave us a more than fair quote to remove a dead gum tree, and remove some low hanging branches from another. So efficient, safe and left our yard cleaner than they found it - and left ud some firewood. Cannot fault the service and will use them again for any future needs. You will not find a better service or more beautiful genuine family.

We are in Eltham and saw Rob and his team working across the road. We asked him to come and quote on removing some trees from our property. Rob came straight away and spoke about what they would do and gave a very reasonable price as well as a prompt date they could do the work. They just finished, did a great job of taking 5 medium sized tree down and more importantly cleaned up really well. I would highly recommend Precision to anyone wanting tree work done

We needed help with some overgrown trees that had gotten out of control, the trees were ornamental pear trees. From the start Rob was great to deal with friendly, professional and really knowledgeable. The team removed the trees efficiently and also took care of the stump grinding, and left me the mulch. Everything was done safely. What really stood out was how easy they were to communicate with and how clean they left the place afterwards no mess, no hassle, just a great result.Highly recommend Rob and the team if you’re looking for reliable and professional tree removal services!

Stump Grinding in Melbourne

Tree removal almost always leaves a stump. Most clients want it ground out on the same visit — same crew, same disposal, no second call-out. Stump grinding adds $150-$600 depending on stump diameter and root spread, but only if you choose to add it.

What to Do in the First 5 Minutes After a Tree Comes Down

The first five minutes after a tree falls determine whether the situation stays manageable or escalates into a larger problem. The order of operations matters, and most homeowners do at least one of these steps in the wrong sequence.

Step 1: Move people, then pets, then vehicles. Establish a 10-metre exclusion zone around the entire footprint of the fallen tree, not just the visible canopy. Limbs hanging in adjacent trees (“widow-makers”) can drop without warning for hours after the initial fall. If anyone was inside the canopy zone when the tree came down, treat them as a casualty until paramedics confirm otherwise — don’t move them unless they’re in immediate further danger.

Step 2: Check for powerline contact before approaching. A fallen tree that is touching, or even close to, an overhead power line energises the ground around it. If you suspect powerline contact, call 000 and the relevant Melbourne distributor — United Energy, AusNet, Powercor, or Jemena — before doing anything else. The energy crew has to isolate the line before any arborist can touch the tree, so getting that call in early saves hours.

Step 3: Photograph the scene from three angles. Insurance assessors need to see the tree’s original position, the damage caused, and any obstruction to access. Take wide shots first, then close-ups of any structural damage to roofs, fences, vehicles, or paving. Time-stamp them on your phone so the metadata sits on the file. Don’t move anything until you’ve photographed it.

Step 4: Call an arborist who responds in hours, not days. A standard quote-and-book arborist isn’t built for emergencies. We dispatch crews specifically configured for fallen trees — chainsaw teams, chipper, and a tipper truck mobilised together so the site is fully cleared in one visit. The earlier we get the call, the earlier you start your insurance claim.

Step 5: Stay clear of the tree itself. The branches and trunk of a fallen tree are under enormous spring tension. A cut in the wrong place releases that tension all at once and sends a section of trunk metres in any direction. This is the most common way DIY clean-up ends up in a Melbourne emergency department. Leave the saw work to people with the training and the protective equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as an emergency tree removal?
Any tree that has fallen, is leaning into a structure, has dropped a major limb, is touching a powerline, or has split during a storm. Anything that’s a safety risk or blocking access is treated as an emergency by us.
How fast can you get on-site in Melbourne?
Metro Melbourne, we can usually have the crew on-site in 2-4 hours during business hours and 3-6 hours overnight. Outer suburbs add 1-2 hours. We confirm the ETA when you call.
Do you charge a call-out fee for emergencies?
No call-out fee on a genuine emergency. We assess, give you the price, and start the work. If it turns out to be non-urgent (a leaning tree that’s stable), we’ll book a normal quote visit instead.
What if the tree is on a powerline?
Stay away from it. Call us AND call the local energy distributor’s emergency line (United Energy, AusNet, Powercor). The lines have to be shut down before the work starts. We coordinate with the energy crew.
Can you do an emergency removal overnight?
Yes — Rob takes after-hours calls and we run overnight emergency jobs when the risk justifies it (tree on roof, tree blocking driveway access). Lower-risk leaners can usually wait until morning, which keeps costs down.
What does emergency tree removal cost in Melbourne?
Emergency callouts run 15-30% above normal rates due to after-hours labour and rapid mobilisation. A typical mid-size emergency removal sits between $1,200 and $3,500. The price is agreed before work starts and itemised in writing.
